| There are a variety of flexible full day programs offered at The Early Years for newborns to 5 years of age. We are familiar with the Board Of Education system. So when a child is enrolled in our centre till S.K. and is ready to go to Grade one, they are already ready with literacy, math, and reading that they had learned here. A lot of our parents leave their children for the J.K and S.K, program in our centre which makes it very easy for parents that they don't have to rush to pick up their child at 3 P.M. All our programs offers a variety of learning tools that enhances a child with their confidence.
INFANTS PROGRAM
(newborns – 18 months)
Our infant program is a wonderful environment to introduce young children to childcare. Our nurturing caregivers develop trusting relationships with each child and family to ensure a comfortable transition into the daycare centre. During the course of a day the infants will engage in many activities such as first step education activities, art, circle time, story time, music and outdoor time including a neighbourhood walk. TODDLER PROGRAM
(18 months – 30 months)
The purpose of this program is to help children have a healthy and smooth transition from home to school. Basic routines and the development of social skills are learned through and an assortment of learning experiences. Toddlers are introduced to the basic in language and math and explore creativity and imagination through play and visual arts. Parents will be given daily reports of their child's routine (ie. Meals, length of nap time, etc.).
JUNIOR PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
(2.6 years – 3.6 years)
This program is designated for children who are in the process of making the change from toddlers to preschool. This program includes more group time and more elaborate creative activities. This program offers the next-step following the toddler curriculum such as language, arts, math, science and movement. At the end of the week there will be a general overview of the child's activities and accomplishments in their cubby as well as worksheets provided for further learning.
PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
(3.6 years – 5 years)
The preschool program concentrates on developing the child's academic skills with a variety of activities. By use of group and individual project work the children will expand their skills in mathematics, science, social skills, music, visual arts, drama and language. Through daily routines we will provide the child and teach him/her to apply these skills to reading, writing and basic mathematics. Children must be toilet trained to be eligible for this program. At the end of the week there will be a general overview of the child's activities and accomplishments in their cubby as well as worksheets provided for further learning. Jolly Phonics will be implemented for this age group. We also offer a program called the “Reading Club” this is a program where we take the children by their age and their ability in participating in this class. They will know their sight words as the basic of their beginning of reading and writing. They will come home with the book they learned and they can either read to you or with you.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (3.6 yrs - 5yrs)
The enrichment program concentrates on further developing the child's academic skills with a variety of activities. By use of group and individual project work the children will expand their skills in Mathematics, Science, Social Skill, Music, Visual Arts, Drama and Language. Daily routines will prepare the children to accept responsibility and teach them to apply this attitude to Reading, Writing, and intermediate Mathematics. Children must be toilet trained to be eligible for this program. Every Friday there will be a general overview of the child's activities and accomplishments in their cubby.
CURRICULUM
Music
There will be daily music and movement activities. The children will participate in rhythmic activities, exercise using their voice, as well as learning and grasping the basic fundamentals of music. We will provide simple instruments to use and practice with.
Drama
The Early Years will be using drama as a way for the children to express emotion, gain confidence and an understanding for drama. They will expand their knowledge of the various ways in which to express thinking, communication and role-playing. Every child will have the chance to feel like a star.
Visual Arts
We will provide each child the opportunity to express themselves through different art media: Painting, drawing, cut & paste, shape, texture, colour and sculpting. Visual arts will be more disciplined according to the age group of the class.
Yoga
Our new program, Yoga Kids, offers children different breathing and stretches exercises that help to create harmony, concentration, coordination, balance and flexibility. Our yoga teacher brings out the fun in yoga for children. With a variety of tools, children learn how to exercise their mind to enhance their attention span. During the lesson, children will learn different poses and a name will be assigned to each, for example, “Tree Pose”, or “Bird Pose”. This will help children remember and understand them and recall them later in their life. Her most popular exercise is having children role the ball in a variety of ways.
Karate
Karate is filled with numerous benefits, both physical and mental, which includes an improvement in confidence, strength, flexibility, and self-discipline. Children will enjoy this program by learning a variety of fun and safe moves.
Everyday Life
Everyday exercises are important to help the student gain self-control. With relation to everyday life the child will filter their motor skills, and learn how to interact politely in society. We want to be able to boost the children's self-esteem, and teach them that a healthy discussion is always a good resolution. Anger and any violent behaviour is not the way to resolve an issue and absolutely not acceptable in the daycare centre.
Language
We will have separate curriculum according to the age groups. All children will be taught using the Phonics program, as well as a variety of other systems to enhance their knowledge of the English alphabet. We will adapt the programs so that all children will be able to move a comfortable pace. We want every child to feel comfortable and confident with the pace that they use to learn the alphabet, reading and writing small words.
French
Children will enter French through games, stories, and songs so that these little ones remind it as an enjoyment. We will use games, and stories with puppets to introduce the vocabulary of French. They will practice songs, and specific sounds to get use to the pronunciation and music of the language. We will emphasize interaction, memorization and understanding.
Mathematics
The Early Years will touch on mathematics. The toddlers will be taught to be familiar with the numbers 1 through 10 and as well be able to work with diagrams and several structures that will make them comfortable with the basic single digits. They will learn basic shapes and where they can find them in their environment. Junior preschool and preschool will be challenged to learn numbers 1-20. They will be introduced to adding and subtracting single digits. We will work daily on mathematics and how they apply to daily life. They will become comfortable using the numbers, recognizing them and applying them to their life. |
